  i can't believe i went all these years without ever seeing this, and i'm so glad i finally sat down and watched it because it's unironically the best film of all time. no other film ever could, and no film ever will. the entire "like a virgin" scene alone is CINEMA. and it's absolutely criminal that we live in a world where this film exists and nicole kidman and ewan mcgregor didn't win best actress/actor awards for their performances (let alone that it didn't win best picture????).

  gonna go listen to the soundtrack on repeat and cry into my pillow 😭

  This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

  so much better than i thought it would be. my anxiety was through the roof with this one - SO many nail-biting, leap out of your seat, hide your face behind your hands nervously moments. the tension was on from minute one (like hello. that opening sequence!!!) and never really lets up. 

  the only real downside imo was that the twists/reveals were so fucking predictable and boring ngl like i called that shit so early on it was ridiculous. but…

  what else is there to say but the obvious? this movie was a phenomenal work of art, a deeply compelling and fully realized vision that had me captivated for its (nearly) three hour runtime. electric performances, stunning visuals, heart-racing action and a concise plot makes this everything i want in any film, let alone in the superhero genre. 

  but what “the batman” does best is it understands its mythos, the city of gotham and the various people who live in it; not only does it make you feel painfully and beautifully part of that world, but it leaves you eagerly waiting for more.

  Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 2021

  this movie was everything i hoped it would be and more! amazing story, characters, soundtrack (!!!) and i truly was emotionally invested throughout. the direction was top-notch and the fight sequences in particular looked so. good. after hearing for months that this film was incredible, it’s great to finally watch it and see for myself that those reviews were not exaggerating in the slightest. i absolutely loved this and i i’m really looking forward to getting more of simu liu and meng’er zhang in the mcu because WOW this is a great great start.
