Reflective and introspective, this film made me not only examine Isak's life but also my own. Such clever filmmaking. Dreams and memories are so cinematic. This is the first Bergman film I've seen and if the others are this good I can easily see why people consider him one of the best filmmakers of all time. I definitely think that this was inspired from A Christmas Carol and then I think it inspired Andrei Tarkovsky's Mirror. Amazing film.
