Charlie’s review published on Letterboxd:
'Frances Ha' is a window into the life of a 27-year-old dancer who ultimately tries to find purpose and meaning in her life. She's constantly in a state of motion, moving from apartment to apartment, city to city, without any clear destination. The film itself takes on this aspect, lacking a conventional plot and narrative, ending in a place which could easily be the start, middle, end or somewhere in between. I suppose this could be a downside to the film, since I didn't feel like I got much out of it as a result, but I did enjoy watching it.
Gorgeous B&W visuals, clean aesthetics, and effective music. However, I wasn't particularly a fan of Gerwig's acting - she comes across as slightly obnoxious to me, and ultimately amateur.
Enjoyable short-ish film from Baumbach - can't say I didn't have a good time.
