I think someone called in friend favours during lockdown and this ensemble cast turned up to a posh house in York, got pissed and made this terrible film.

Somebody forgot to write any dialogue or devise a plot. The characters are so thinly drawn, they don't even have jobs (one of the easiest ways to set one character apart from another). It's just Jane hates Harriet. Vicky hates dad. The men have no opinion and Caroline sleeps around.

That's not the plot, but pretty much is the plot.

Avoid. Even with friends this isn't fun.

I don't like to berate someone's work, but this is not a good film.

Apart from there being no plot and the vampire villain not actually doing anything, it's just badly made.

The film constantly breaks the rules of cinema, which have been established to create continuity and a grounded sense of time and place.

This film jumps out of scenes early and changes location without any establishing shots or dialogue to make sense of it.

    Ron Hall is clearly…

Riffing off Charlie Chaplin's The Vagabond, this film is a Bollywood classic, with visuals worthy of David Lean or Orson Welles. It's all expressionistic angles and tremendous sets. The songs are all incredible too. It really is top notch, with beautiful acting from Nargis and Raj Kapur.

Of course, the iconic 'Dream' sequence is worth the ride, alone, but really it's the charismatic Raj and Rita, who make it.
