Past Lives 2023
overwhelming because this was the film i wanted to make when i was 16 — clearly i wouldn't have had the emotional maturity and creative sophistication for it back then, but this was the kind of heartache i was endlessly fascinated by. it was always the person who's not meant to be for me: the person not within your reach, the person to be locked away in your heart forever. many lines made me feel like all air were punched out of my lungs, but i'll leave you with this one: "i didn’t know liking your husband would hurt this much."
