I love this movie to pieces!!

The East vs. West conflict is something that needs to be talked about more in this movie. That whole scene about which side has it best/who has it worst shows a cultural divide between this family. I personally relate to this as Fil-Can since there is a cultural divide between the Filipinos in the Philippines and the Filipinos in the West. This type of conflict needs a bigger conversation in and outside of this movie.

For the ppl that are new to this musical, watch the new pro shot version of this before watching the movie! You will appreciate the musical even more if you do that

Love everything about this show

Would’ve been a better story if they focused more on the parents’ backstory

This version of The Last Five Years is pretty different from other versions of this musical (and in a good way)! The actors in this version alternate playing multiple musical instruments to accompany their co-star’s solo, and it gives a fresh take on this musical. Oli Higginson (Jamie) and Molly Lynch (Cathy) are amazing in their roles, and people should actually take time to watch this!!

In The Heights was one of the first musicals I’ve listened to in it’s entirety (discovered it around 2014),  and it’s still one of my favourite musicals of all time. The movie was as equally amazing to the show itself! Yes, they did make some changes to the script and the music, but I thought it made sense to their new vision of the story. Please watch the movie whenever you get the chance to! If you cannot watch the movie right away, listen to the original Broadway cast album on all steaming platforms! You honestly won’t regret it.
