I am finally watching Breathless! And it's not completely what I expected. It's like sitting at an outdoor bar in Europe somewhere, having a frothy cocktail overlooking a Plaza people walking by and watching performance artists through the course of the day. Completely ethereal and detached light and fluffy but dark in content, I wasn't blown away seeing this but happy to nevertheless. Also, next time someone calls me a louse, I won't answer, and simply retrace my lips, and a good jazz score should be happening in the background.
Where to begin, I had several issues with this film that culminated into a contained (hopefully) laughing fit in the theater when Becky Something sang a seemingly endless Bryan Adams song. The length of the movie was problematic, but stuck it out to see the "will she or wont she" implode moment, but by the end, I could care less. Between the poor direction, and a multitude of characters (Virginia Madsen & Eric Stoltz) to give credence of how fucked up…
