    The Batman 2022

    Mark Gosney

★★★★ Watched by Mark Gosney 04 Mar 2022

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

The Batman succeeds at doing something that has been missing since the MCU reared it’s head. Commitment. I’ve been exhausted, recently, of the patience to endure the self-aware and the over-explained nature of fictional stories. People are so afraid of leaving gaps in their narrative these days that they’ve robbed us of our ability to fill them in. I prefer this. You can get bogged down in the logistics of the fiction colliding with reality, or you can focus on…

Why yes, I WILL watch your cast of idiosyncratic weirdos go on a string of loosely connected escapades, thank you. Great sound. I think we need more pathetic 20-something characters in media today.

    ★★★★ Rewatched by Justin Doolittle 16 Dec 2021 1

Anthologies make for a difficult emotional latch but unsurprisingly on a second pass I found this to be richer and even more meticulously detailed than I gave it credit for. There is simply too much going on in his films to properly absorb everything in a single viewing. If Isle of Dogs was his broadest, this is his most specific and challenging, a film made for adults. But it's crafted with such warmth and affection, which granted is something you…

    ★★★★½ Watched by J.S. Lewis 02 Sep 2021

This is as much about sifting through the explosive aftermath of the first Paradise Lost film as it is a continued examination of the heinous child murders and catching up with the West Memphis Three as they hope to overturn their convictions.

You’d think a true crime sequel wouldn’t have as much to offer as what came before, but this is arguably an even more engrossing exercise now that the major players are established. Second to none is John Mark…

    ★★★★★ Rewatched by hugo 06 Sep 2021

In a genre that’s become stale, safe and trite with characters that lack anything resembling humanity or depth, Watchmen comes in less like a breath of fresh air and more like a fucking tornado. An amoral political deconstruction of modern society (mostly concerning the US) portrayed through a story of people affected by their past trauma and how they decide to deal, or not deal, with it. A sequel that understands it’s source material in a way that actually enhances…

Lots of action and violence but the real victims were all the young male stagehands trapped on a movie set with Bryan Singer and Kevin Space - no thank you.

Just completely blown away by this. Absolutely amazing camera work. And it’s so subtly masterful you almost don’t even notice. These scenes were captured beautifully and it’s such an engaging story. The characters, all of them, are so real.

The ending is just beautiful and devastating at the same time. I know I love it and I’m not even sure why. I feel so satisfied but with so little answers.

I love the way Bong Jong-ho makes you laugh at…

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

When people think about parenthood, they usually don’t think “what if my kid grows up to be a monster?!” They just think, “I should check up on them” or “they need to stop spending so much time on social media.” Underneath the protective, caring side of parenthood, there’s also the terrifying notion that our kids could shape the world positively or negatively based on how we raise them. For all we know, we could be making the biggest mistakes of…

I just wanted to inform those who care that I'm deep in development on my next film. So I'll only be logging for the time being. Not adding any info or replying to comments. But thank you for following me on this platform. It's been fun to connect with fellow film lovers. I'll be back as soon as I can.

Support the theaters when they open! Stay safe! :)

And no.. I didn't really watch it.
