all three main women (and the myriad of supporting women!) are entrancing, two of the men do so well, and philip glass’s score works wonders. everything about this movie captures the arid internal dread that mrs. dalloway brought to life so many years ago.
it can’t be overlooked that pretty much every key crew member was a man, right down to the novel from which this was adapted. despite the fact that they are telling the story of women who were affected by a book about a woman written by a woman which contains a lot of sensitive themes. thankfully, they did it with care.
