Kris FT’s review published on Letterboxd:
Technically, The Philosopher's Stone is the best Harry Potter/Wizarding World movie in terms of introducing the mythology of magic and Harry Potter to live action.
This film sets the tone for what's to come by capturing the spirit of the world Jo Rowling (recent controversies notwithstanding) created in her famed books. It's a colorful construction of one of the most iconic fantasy worlds of the past half century.
In the end, this film is the purest form of childlike aspiration. Which child, in their right mind, wouldn't like to escape a miserable home life and become a witch or a wizard? Undoubtedly, a gold standard for film escapism.
