Dolan offers a fascinating look into celebrity culture in THE DEATH AND LIFE OF JOHN F. DONOVAN. I don’t think it’s his best BUT its quite a beauty. The different narratives just worked. Jacob Tremblay & Kathy Bates shine.
I probably shouldn't even be rating it because I left halfway through the movie but I don't think anything could have saved it. This is the most unfunniest comedy I've ever seen. It has absolutely no redeeming factors towards it.
It's really disappointing that McCarthy is having to deal being typecast with such roles just because screenwriters think that being fat is funny. Instead of laughing I felt really bad for her and for all the actors involved in this film. Even though they aren't in the same genre, I think this might have beat "I, Frankenstein" for my worst film of the year.

Fan-fucking-tastic movie. It's a simple story that just worked! I absolutely loved the look and feel of this movie, it's one of those little gems that you think could disappoint but turns out being the complete opposite. Props to James Franco though, he did carry this film and LIVED the Alien, as absurd as he was. Laughs are definitely guaranteed.…
