Once Upon a Time in Iraq

This is a truly important, essential film.

It deliberately avoids the WMD justifications, false intelligence and the phoney 'imminent threat'. Because it's telling the stories of people who lived through the chaos and carnage. Those stories are so real, moving, chilling, terrifying, heartbreaking, that they don't deserve to be set alongside the duplicity and spin of politicians.

I would not be surprised if the whole of Iraq has Collective PTSD after living through the events detailed in this powerful documentary.…

I've read a lot of reviews that seem to really dislike this, and my interpretation of these reviews coalesces around a number of themes.

    (c) it's about as subtle as being smashed in the face with an advertising…

When I first saw this a few years ago, I marvelled at the A-list cast and the speed with which they were killed off. I listened to the lightning quick scientific dialogue (R-0, social distancing) and thought it sounded so alien that it must be well-researched. I was a bit disappointed how it rushed through a final act (did they run out of money?)...
...and now it feels like The News, but on FFWD and dialled up to 11. And we haven’t started looting yet.
