With Anatomy of a Fall (2023) I have now watched seven of the ten movies that are nominated in the oscar category Best Picture of the Year.

    My current ranking would be:
    1. Oppenheimer (4.5/5)
    2. Barbie (4/5)
    3. The Holdovers (4/5)
    4. Anatomy of a Fall (4/5)
    5. Past Lives (3.5/5)
    6. Maestro (3.5/5)
    7. Killers of the Flower Moon (3.5/5)

Hell yeah! Jason Statham is back! He is back with a bang!!
If you like fast paced, action-packed vigilante thrillers with lots of brutal killings (and don't we all?), then this movie is definitely for you.

When a film is the most thrilling to follow, the most gorgeous to look at, the most enchanting to listen to, and the most challenging to interpret, well yes, then it probably is the best film ever made.

  • The Lighthouse

    The Lighthouse

    ★★★★½

    The Lighthouse (2019) = Shutter Island (2010) + The Shining (1980)

Indeed, The Lighthouse is basically a more artistic version of Shutter Island. A major difference between an artistic and an entertaining version of (more or less) the same movie, is that in the latter the film explains itself in the end, whereas in the former very little (if anything) is explained, and the confused viewer must look for an explanation on the internet.

An explanation like this one, for example:
