    🪐1st Viewing🪐

As I round out finally catching up on Nolan’s work, Interstellar was the one I was most looking forward to. I heard it plays with time which always intrigues me, is really divisive which means to me that it’s risky which i like, and I have not seen much from actors Matthew McConaughey and Jessica Chastain.

And taking into account all except Insomnia and Following, this one is definitely the most ambitious in a resume full of…

I’m ashamed to say that I started this and had the impulse to abort the watch because of how low-budget it was. That’s totally unfair for me to judge as inferior because it wasn’t what I was expecting or “low-quality”. And appropriately that’s exactly what this movies subject matter was about. Despite the negatives circumstances to enjoy what you have while you have it with whoever is around you. And that’s what I did with this delightful flick…

    “Our Land.”

We live in a land of sensationalism. We throw out superlatives and exaggerated claims because I think we as a society don’t know how to express ourselves effectively and it’s getting worse. We hate or are too lazy or too scared to get lost in the labyrinth of complexity in any field so we default to the extremes. It’s way easier. This is the best thing ever. This sucked. “This persons evil.” we say with the…

“I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether we be 6 or 60.” - Walt Disney

While that is said by Disney and not Pixar, this is the thought I get whenever I watch a Pixar movie. And there may be no greater example of that quote than this movie, especially considering the “6 or 60” aspect are around the ages of the two main characters.

    Interpretation time.

I find this story so beautiful. A man is corrupted by power and as men do exerts his Will over others—conquering, expanding his control over others and wrecking havoc on the world. He is the avatar of a corrupted ego. Then he meets his match in Ying Li who is the antithesis of who he is and almost an avatar for love. She protects Ta Lo, which is a realm I think is a perfect representation…

This movie has the prestigious honor of being the first movie I ever saw with boobs. It was quite a shock. So thank you Amanda Peet, and she was so good in this. She really reminded me of Harley Quinn with her relationship with Jimmy and her playful energy.

Speaking of firsts, this also is the movie that I think introduced me to Bruce Willis and the first movie I think about when I think Bruce Willis. Thought…

The mystery of life isn’t a problem to solve, but a reality to experience. A process that cannot be understood by stopping it. We must move with the flow of the process. We must join it. We must flow with it.

    🏆Genre Classic
This genre of movies all have a ratio of fantasy/sci-fi. If Star Wars is 90% Fantasy, 10% Sci-Fi well Dune is the inverse of that recipe. Maybe even to the point where it’s 1% fantasy.…

Saw today was it’s 2 year anniversary so I decided to finally give this a go and it was an exhilarating, frustrating, and beautiful ride.

I wasn’t sure if I’d get anything out of this film just due to the content matter. I love Talladega Nights and Fast and Furious and really like Speed Racer and some Pod Racing but I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy it when based in actually reality. But this…

I can honestly say this is the best movie centered around owls I’ve ever seen

Seriously though this is way better than it should be on paper. As always Zack Snyder’s visual prowess is on full display here giving the animation genre one of its finest achievements in my opinion. And I can’t believe what I’m about to say but how fucking badass was that owl battle choreography. The fighting was more interesting and well designed than it…

This is such a Disney movie for better and worse. Way too much CGI for me and a lot of it might as well been a video game. I was uninterested in the generic villain. Not menacing or unique in any way.

But it was an innocuous adventure that is bolstered so much by Blunt, Johnson, and their incredible chemistry. They not only made this not a chore to get through but actually a pleasant watch where I genuinely…

10 Minutes In- Awe this is a cute coming of age romp. I love this girl.

30 minutes in - Okay don’t really see why this is a horror movie. Definitely a cool fantasy premise. Like a coming of age, Narnia-esque period piece back to the 60s. So elegant.

1 Hour in- Okay wow fuck. This took an unexpected turn. We’re getting into some psychological horror. The genre designation is justified

    1:15 in - DEFINITELY a horror movie and this…

For obvious reasons the immediate impression I have coming out of the theater is that the MCU is flying a little too close to the sun right now for me. Both in this movie as well as their perpetually expanding universe.

But first I want to be a positive Paulie.

For the MCU I often bemoan the franchise’ formula and how their limiting sandbox mitigates the fullest realization of what each project can be and it’s getting more frustrating…
