Glass Onion

Glass Onion ★★★½

Glass Onion immediately wins points by not feeling like a rehash of the original, and instead forging it's own direction. If nothing else, that alone would get me excited to see what and where Rian Johnson will go to for the next installment. There is so much more to unpack and look into here, that it will almost demand a second and third viewing once it comes onto Netflix. It is definitely funnier than the original, even if some of those jokes didn't work entirely or overstayed their effectiveness. Craig as Blanc is just having the best time, and the rest of the cast has the advantage of seeing first hand the tone Johnson is aiming for, so they all lean in wonderfully, in particular Kate Hudson who nearly steals every scene. I will have to go back because I'm not sure the movie invites you to solve the mystery in the same way the original does, which isn't necessarily a criticism. But even if that is the case, this is no less entertaining in its own way.
