Entrancing from start to finish with barely any moment let loose towards superficiality, although that's how I have felt in the beginning about the two Carax films I've seen so far (the other being Mauvais Sang). The director himself knows it and embraces it, refines it and the end result is a work more contemplative than others of the same nature. This is the director's vision beautifully adapted with full control over every aspect of cinema, rightfully considered as the seventh art.
