    Dune Part 1
I saw this on the biggest screen near me and I know that played a large role in my enjoyment. This movie is epic in every sense of the meaning- it’s a movie that belongs on the tier of “this doesn’t feel like a movie” movies.

Dune is an incredible adaptation of the book, I can’t even imagine adapting a complex sci-fi novel like Dune into what the crew did here. Before you bag on it…

This belongs in the Hitchcock Starter Pack for me. It has everything someone needs to know about Hitchcock; a great story, famous performers (who all do great), beautiful camerawork (with many uses of long-takes and panning), a director cameo, an amazing twist, smart dialogue, and a satisfying ending.

In another dimension, I like to think of Teresa Wright and Thomas Mitchell being great casting choices for the 1947 movie, but I still love Edmund Gwenn and Maureen O’Hara in what we have, so at least we have this obscure TV special.

I definitely wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who has never seen any version of 34th Street because this one leaves quite a bit out. I only followed along because I knew the story; otherwise, it felt rushed.…

Tick, tick… Boom! feels reminiscent of La La Land’s “follow your dreams” plot while still feeling completely, independently, absitively, posilutely its own thing. And I loved it.

If I were to describe it to someone, I’d call it a musical of a musical; because while it definitely has song and dance, it never feels completed- which is exactly what it’s supposed to feel like. The entire movie Jonathan Larsen is waiting for his big break, *tick*, brainstorming lyrics, *tick*, working on…

It’s a given that the animation was stunning, but I just wasn’t a big fan of much else. Didn’t care for the songs, the story was alright, didn’t like the voice acting for some characters, it was just all around not my thing. I liked the sweet Raccoon short though 🤷‍♂️
