When I was a little kid, I stumbled across this film on TV with a friend. Our parents were outside, so we were alone watching in the house. When we got to the scene where the alien is hit by a car, and then its disembodied hand crawls along the ground and punctures the car tires with its nails, we fled in abject terror.
Flash forward 20 years or so, I was watching MST3K covering "Attack of the Eye Creatures," and laughing at how silly it was, when I got the weirdest sense of deja vu. Turns out Eye Creatures was almost a shot for shot remake of Saucer-Men, which led me back to the original. And damned if this isn't an object lesson in stuff that's scary as a kid being goofy as hell when you're an adult. I mean, this movie isn't even trying to be scary. It's got goofy music, aliens vs. cows, a comical title card sequence. But it scared the hell out of six-year-old me.
