Elf 2003
Mandatory Christmas viewing. But honestly the more I watch this one the less I like it. Still probably Will Ferrell's best comedic performance. I'm just not the biggest fan of fish out water stories but this is one of the better ones. The jokes land most of the time but the story and pacing loses me towards the end. A solid Christmas watch for the whole family.

Downton Abbey: A New Era 2022
Better than the first and I enjoyed the cross cutting between the two group stories. Still hard to really invest in the characters without having watched the series.

Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris 2022
Man, I love how wholesome this movie really is. It's like a live action Paddington film. One of the most feel good movies. Filled with exceptional costume work and Lesley Manville's best performance to date. Her role in this and Phantom Thread show her complete range as total opposites.

The Polar Express 2004
A Christmas re-watch staple. While not the best looking animated movie. It really captures the magic and spirit of Christmas. One of the first movies I watch in December to put me in the Christmas mood.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas 2000
First time seeing this in theaters. A Christmas staple and probably one of my favorites. Jim Carrey really makes the movie. He gives one of the best comedic performances of all time. For my money his best. He really makes the Grinch oddily relatable. The message of consumerism and isolation seems to only become more relevant with time. Easily one of Ron Howard's best films. From the production design, costumes, and makeup/ hair; it all has attention to detail and craftsmanship that bring Dr. Seuss' children book to life. An entertaining watch for the whole family around the holiday season.
