Cinema Excelsior’s review published on Letterboxd:
Bold, irreverent, excessive, imperfect yet ultimately captivating.
Annette is one of those rare films that no matter how hard one tries to classify, or subject to a past cinematic experience, it's virtually impossible to find such a wild precedent.
Even having a fairly decent idea of what I was getting into, it took me by surprise, and I quickly became absorbed by it. Even if some scenes are stretched out ad infinitum for no apparent reason.
It's not an easy watch, but it's magnetic and weird all throughout and, Adam Driver has a glorious oral performance (pun intended). Reason enough to watch it.
