Two takes on this movie prior to watching it had me most intrigued - that it was a “spiritual sequel” to Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and is “the multiverse movie that should have made it to theaters.” I have not seen the new Doctor Strange yet, but I agree that it possesses the same spirit as Roger Rabbit, and has a splash of The Nice Guys. I thought this was immensely entertaining.

Moon Knight 2022
This is becoming a mixed cinematic universe. Since Black Widow, pretty much every entry, series and movies, contain good ideas that are not realized to their full potential because creative freedoms are still shackled. I give this show credit for detaching itself from the larger picture, but I found the narrative to be convoluted and uninteresting. Again, Oscar Isaac deserves better from Disney,

The Batman 2022
Returning to my one main criticism, the inclusion of Joker, I was able to forgive it this time. There is an argument that it feels out of place. However, Reeves was quoted saying Riddler needed a final scene to close his part of the story. I totally get this, there are only three or four scenes that do not include Batman in the entire movie and I believe they all are focused on the Riddler’s actions. I think it makes…

The Batman 2022
Being a huge fan of both Matt Reeve’s Apes movies, I was pretty confident he’d deliver a great entry into the Batman franchise - and of course he did. His character work is excellent and the cast is perfect (except for maybe one little cameo at the end). I loved the slow-burn narrative. This movie is not in a rush to get to the inevitable action set pieces, and there are so many shots in this movie you’d want to…

Peter Pan 1953
My 3 year old wanted pirates, so this is where we ended up and I could see the look of wonderment on his face. Controversial depictions aside, I loved seeing a Disney classic, a spark for imagination, bring the same joy to my son as they once did for me. Disney “magic” seems like a thing of the past.
P.S. I hope in a couple years we can enjoy Hook (1991) together.

West Side Story 2021
Jived much better a second time. It is mostly brilliant, yet I still feel there are pacing issues that undercut both the love story and the drama in the third act.

West Side Story 2021
I grew up in a household that celebrated and sang along with musicals. When it’s done right, musicals are euphoric and can uplift your soul. West Side Story (1961) was the first film adaption that truly cemented my love for this genre. While as a 10 year old I did not understand the weight of the subject matter right away, I still fell for the music, dancing and the drama. West Side Story (2021) brings back a familiar magic to…

Ghostbusters: Afterlife 2021
Ghostbusters: Afterlife > Spider-Man: No Way Home
Reason: The use of nostalgia contains more heart and purpose.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife > Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Reason: It expands on a familiar plot instead of blatantly repeating it.
