Review: 'Murina'

Director Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic's slow-boil coming-of-age melodrama, Murina, is now playing in select cities and will screen this weekend at the Webster University Film Series. Critic Kayla McCulloch has a review:

"Part coming-of-age story, part patriarchal takedown, Murina is at its best when exploring how systems of power use more than intimidation tactics to suppress. Sometimes a suave sweet talker can be just as disarming as a cruel, biting authoritarian."
