keep your marvels & solos & minions & all that other garbage & give me the Speed Racers & Valerians & Mortal Engines, those big-budget films that feel like risks if only because they don't feel streamlined into nothingness. they are messy, sometimes not very good, but distinctive and with character simple because, AND HOW SAD IS THIS, they don't stem from intellectual properties that are ubiquitious household names
some of these were maligned, some received pretty well, one is an agreed upon masterpiece
