Alternated between bursts of laughter and gasps of shock with that damn captain’s dinner scene. You will never guess where this movie is headed from one scene to the next. Between Babylon and TOS this was the year of explosive diarrhea. Charlbi Kriek and Dolly de Leon were standouts for me - would have been lovely to see de Leon score an Oscar nom for best supporting over Jamie Lee Curtis.

I have been an Andrea Riseborough stan for a while now and am thrilled to see her achieve recognition (albeit a surprise oscar nom!) for her work in To Leslie. Andrea is the ultimate chameleon and so fucking good in literally every role she plays. Her ability to absorb a character into every fiber of her being means you never watch her on screen and see her as Andrea Riseborough the actress.

To Leslie is a small, smartly directed character…

Wow. Just… wow. Such a small film that packs a mighty punch. Paul Mescal is heartbreaking as a detached but loving father whose struggles are perceptively witnessed by his daughter - both as a child and an adult reflecting back on her last holiday with her dad. Frankie Corio is exceptional as young Sophie and the chemistry between her and Paul is so natural and a joy to watch. Truly such a beautiful, contemplative film that will leave you quietly mesmerized after the credits roll.

My favorite part were the captions for each dish on the menu. Overall though, was sadly disappointed with the film! Was obsessed with the script when it hit the Blacklist a few years ago but found the film to be lacking in its bite (ahaaaa) Anya Taylor Joy is my dream girl but I felt like her talent was not put to use. same with Judith Light. Mehhhh!
