claira curtis’s review published on Letterboxd:
Have an UNREAL vivid memory of staring at the DVD of this at Blockbuster any and every time I went there with my dad when I was young.
Genuinely can NOT figure out if this was an attempt at making a mockery of how American male tourists are ripe with toxic masculinity and convinced they are walking Gods while going abroad or if it’s bragging about that false narrative, trying to show it’s true?? Is this movie woke or is it just a typical 2005 dumpster fire of torture porn?
That is a rhetorical question, I would like to stop thinking about Hostel asap. But will I be watching Hostel 2? Yes. Don’t worry about it. Thank y’all for your time <3
