Nope ★★★★★

A film so good that I stumbled out of the theater feeling like I just ascended to the astral plane.

Nope opens with Nahum 3:6 “I will cast abominable filth upon you, Make you vile, And make you a spectacle”.

And that it does.

It revels in the vileness and the spectacle of it all.

It redefines a genre.

It reignites a corner of cinema that hasn’t been lit in quite the same way for years.

A monstrous beast that has such a build up of simultaneous anticipation and dread. I felt like I would simply die if I didn’t see what happened next, all while begging out of horror for it all to stop.

There is something so particularly satisfying and thrilling in witnessing Jordan Peele up his own ante with each new film. His concepts grow all the more ambitious and complex with each project. It feels like Nope has been a long time coming. We’re just lucky enough to be alive to see it.

Masterful, masterful, masterful. Jordan Peele deserves that title.

Keke Palmer doing the Akira motorcycle slide is my new religion.
