claira curtis’s review published on Letterboxd:
Current Mood: so anxious about the election and the impending collapse of the country I live in that I’m using escapism as a coping mechanism and imagining myself living on an island with the love of my life / the woman of my dreams, isolated from the horrors of the world and living in the few moments of pure love and intimacy that I’m lucky enough to experience in the midst of the wretched circumstance of existing.
Happy Election Days, folks! I want to cry and puke and scream all at the same time! If you haven’t already, GO VOTE!! And then join me in revisiting one of the most breathtaking masterpieces of the past decade, Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
Portrait of a Lady on Fire is still a perfect film and I stand by what I said in my original review.
