  : I like how Nova Scotia is portrayed as beat up in the beginning bc that’s accurate. It’s not all lighthouses and homoerotic willem dafoe. Most importantly, it’s not a playground for the aforementioned toronno yuppies to cosplay poor.   this movie is fine. its basically an attempt at criticizing weird movie guys yet has only succeeded at self-absolving film bros from genuine self-reflection. Also blackface matt johnson?? I feel like we couldve achieved the same psycho douchebag vibes from mr johnson without that. The only redeemable interpretation I can think of is using the progressive spiralling towards school shooting as an allegory to sexual assault, esp in the film industry.
