Although this is my favourite MCU Spider-Man movie, it's not amazing.

Mysterio's motivations were compelling and made enough sense. Even after Tony has died, people ridiculed or hurt by the man are still out there, wanting to throw away his legacy. The way he mentors Peter and tries to be the good guy had me fooled when I first watched the movie, but he has one shortcoming: he has no personal connection with Peter. The only reason they come into conflict is that they both want the MacGuffin: Tony's glasses.

I liked how this movie was laid back and tried to distract us from the heavy emotions that come with Endgame, but the movie takes little to no time to acknowledge the previous monumental blockbuster. When they try to make a joke out of it at the start of the movie, I found it funny but in the back of my mind, I thought "this is messed up!". Why is it trying to make such insensitive jokes about Endgame?

I'm not too fond of Peter in this movie. He messed up big time. His selfish want to be with MJ (I did ship them, btw) allowed Mysterio to hold the most powerful weapon on the planet and it was Mr Stark's last gift to Peter. Come on, man! Your mentor gave you a gift, and you're just going to give it away? That's worse than handing it back!

Later in the movie, after Peter is picked up by Happy, Happy tells him to be his own man and to stop trying to be like Tony. But when Peter gets to work on a new spidey-suit, he puts on the same song Tony listened to when making his first Iron Man suit. Huh? Give him his own song, damn it!

But this movie was fun. The CG sequence where Mysterio messes with Peter was so imaginative and beautiful. The post-credit scene was great (I loved seeing J.K. Simmons reprise the role of J. Jonah Jameson). And I'm glad I got to see Peter get together with MJ. It's good, but its issues hold it back from being great.

With all that power, he isn't very responsible.

SCORE: 8/10
