man, i don’t think i will ever get sick of the characters in this show. Sam Levinson’s fondness for crafting these long conversations between characters is a style of writing i’ve been in love with forever. i just can’t get enough of it.

i also think it’s fantastic that Hunter Schafer co-wrote this episode as the result is something so, so deeply personal. and that liability needle drop? poetry in motion.

me: hey girlie! i absolutely cannot do this today! ❤️

side note - i know if i saw this as a kid my obsession and love with space would’ve been accelerated so much. so, maybe it’s for the best that that didn’t happen!

it’s amazing to me how truly terrible Episodes I & II are while this one is legitimately great in every sense of the word. this is the grandest stage Star Wars has ever been put on to this day and it’s incredible how much of it works.

i remember going to target the day Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga came out as a literal 6 year old and my sister was mad at me that our parents didn’t get her…

remarkable on so many levels. as someone who pretty consistently thinks that my career and my passion and my goals of success are the entire reason to live, this definitely made me, uh... think about a few things. the animation here is so pretty and Reznor & Ross’ score is instantly a new favorite of mine.

only criticism of mine is that the ending here feels a little bit rushed and unresolved. but also, i loved the fact that they painted…

perfect on every single level imaginable. there is not *one* thing that i didn’t like in this. one of the all-time greatest performances i’ve ever seen from Carey Mulligan. absolutely beautiful set design and costuming. fantastic soundtrack from top-to-bottom featuring the only good slowed down remix of a pop song in any film, and a just as great original score to accompany the soundtrack? otherworldly.

i really think i could talk about this film for days. there is such a…

there’s something intrinsically transcendent about every Malick film (that i’ve seen) as he captures and depicts life in its purest form, distilling every ounce of emotion in his characters into the gorgeous natural landscapes of Earth. im usually a hater of narration in films, but the use of it here from Pocahontas, Smith, & Rolfe works wonders to fill the language void between the colonists and the Native Americans.

the narrative inversion of John Smith and the colonists arriving in the…
