The Batman tries to be a moody, aesthetic-obsessed neo-noir that flips back and forth between whether it wants to be a tried and true character study on Bruce Wayne's relationship with the death of his parents or a complex unraveling plot with twists and turns about the depths of political corruption in Gotham.
