a movie about performance, projecting your performance to the world, and the illusions that drive performance and the people behind it. every inch of this film is bursting at the seams with endless imagination and wonder, Carax and Sparks unapologetically gives their entire world up and it’s completely on you if you’re down with it’s manic and wholly enchanting frenzy. i haven’t been this thoroughly swept away into a movie’s world and it’s images and it’s ideas since before the pandemic and i know that sheen will carry through the decade. every bit as essential as Holy Motors
