loving someone who’s not there, through a screen of glass. what i think has aged finest about Jonzes masterpiece is that it’s the only accurate, or even one of the only, depictions of falling hopelessly in love with someone who you’re never going to meet beyond the guise of a screen. someone you only know through the looking glass. i’m interested to see how this would look if Samantha didn’t love Theodore back, a common occurrence that happens in others, even my, life. hell, it’s a situation that i’m in now. falling in love with someone you barely know, someone who doesn’t think about you more than once a week. someone who you’re never going to meet, but you’re in love with them anyway. i should write something about that.
