Michael Hewis’s review published on Letterboxd:
At first, this looked like this would live up to its reputation. A prolonged, lengthy prologue which, thanks to Sigourney Weaver's acting, adds a gravitas that is compelling. A melancholy through Weaver's character mixed with the spectacle of the effects that, even if you can see the strings occasionally, are spectacular still. Then it becomes a generic Hollywood action film, the predictability of the narrative and content frustrating. Yes you see the Alien Queen, and Lance Henriksen technically headlines a major feature, but even without the films that have ripped it off, this feels mediocre once it gets to the final half, never having any real emotional connect or interest as action sci-fi.
