  Holy fucking shit what a picture!! Incredible story that was told so well Mann is the GOAT. Superb performances across the board - the deposition scene in particular had me so gagged. Bruce McGill was in like 3 scenes but left a mark that echoed throughout the entire runtime.

  It’s easy to denigrate cigarette companies but it’s still pretty badass that Mann was able to release something this anti-corporate and damning of big news networks in ‘99. He’s just so fucking cool, please watch this one if you haven’t.

  Todd Haynes has always been a master of letting the story be the centre piece of his films and boy this is no exception. By simply acting as an observateur he allows the 3 central performances to guide us through what is, at first, a darkly comedic journey which quickly turns into something much more harrowing.
