“Who was the movie star?”
“Does it matter?”
Velvet scarves, lawsuits, snobs in suits, the fakery of college culture, and the pursuit of that alluring something, whatever it is. Maybe they can tell us when they get there.
Exclusivity and the power it holds is the evergrowing, parasitic pit in which so many are devoured by and, when in motion, it’s terryifing - and saddening - to watch.
I don’t know think it’s The defining movie of the 2010s - it was obviously the most foresighted - but it has to be one of the most gutting.
Bummed. Nowhere even close to Get Out.
This went from exposition to falling action within like 30 seconds and just didn’t stop. Then to a climax and back to exposition again?
I dug the score and some of the aesthetics but the story, violence, character relationships/dynamics are all empty - something that was ramped up all the way in Get Out and had both emotional and thematic effect. Just didn’t feel authentic or believable to me at all.
