Coleman Spilde’s review published on Letterboxd:
not only is it a wholly original concept with staggeringly smart execution but it’s also...a ton of fun?
and beyond that, it just feels like James Wan and Leigh Wannell somehow knew this would be a classic that would become the genesis for not only an entire series but a mythology. the terrifying doll on the tricycle? absolutely fucking bonkers without knowing the context of the series and yet? they did it!
unfortunately i’ll never be able to give this a full five stars due to the massive, gaping plot hole revealed in the film’s final moments. but yet...it has five stars in my heart!
