  • Rabid

It's taken me close to a week to put my thoughts to paper after witnessing the world premiere of RABID in front of a packed out IMAX screen at Frightfest. The atmosphere at Frightfest is always amongst the best, it contains excited genre film fans who are looking to get the next kick out of something spooky, intense, gruesome or brilliant (sometimes all 4) and when the turn came for RABID, atmosphere was at fever pitch. The whole audience was…

    One Cut of the Dead

Every so often a film hits you right in the nose and demands your attention, focus and wants to be the center of your everything. ONE CUT OF THE DEAD is one such film.

I don’t know anything about the behind the camera or crew work, I am simply a film fan who enjoys what is front of me, but that does not mean I can’t appreciate what goes on behind the scenes. OCOTD is like a sneak peek into…

  • Christine

While watching and enjoying CHRISTINE, I couldn’t help but spend a while thinking about what a treasure Stephen King is. To think of how many adaptations have been crafted from his incredible mind or how he has detailed so much from the realest of characters to the most intricate plots all within such nightmare visions that could never be close to being real, although when reading his work, nothing feels realer. How can one man craft so many ideas, plots,…

    Blood Punch

This was a breeze to get through. Just when I thought HAPPY DEATH DAY started the GROUNDHOG DAY horror thing, I was entirely mistaken as 2014’s unsung BLOOD PUNCH gets in there first and provides an entertaining and worthwhile time mystery escapade. Big on comedy and light on characters, it utilises its well versed cast to create an engrossing watch that packs guns, laughs and cute log cabins in to a neat package. Probably doesn’t make an iota of sense but it restricts complex theories in favour of just wholesome fun.

    Anna and the Apocalypse

I love horror and I have a soft spot for musicals so when I heard about this film I was all sorts of intrigued. For some reason, I was expecting something fairly average and ended up with a gourmet meal. This is the quintessential genre Christmas film.

ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE is beautiful to look at, wonderful characters and sets and is an extreme comfort on the eye but that is only the beginning. This film is a musical so…

    Summer of 84

SUMMER OF 84 is the film the 2017 version of IT should have been between the Pennywise sections. The kids are brilliant in this, not over the top or over-dramatized, they feel entirely real and mischievous. They get comedy gold lines and enough solid interactions to make you feel fully invested in their journeys.

The film itself feels like the STRANGER THINGS have moved into THE ‘BURBS with wonderful characters that haven’t felt so likeable since TURBO KID. It is…
