Colin McLaughlin’s review published on Letterboxd:
I literally cannot deal with this movie. It’s impossibly good. Millions of kids are going to see this movie and feel how I felt as a ten year old, retreating into my room to read spider-man comics because that was the world I wanted to live in. Fuck. This movie is like mainlinging joy directly into your veins. It’s the Peter/MJ story that we never got after spider-man 3. It’s a movie that writes a new language in animation and does so effortlessly.
It’s the story of a kid who fears he’s not good enough.
There’s three specific moments in this fucking cartoon about people who dress up as spiders where I cry my goddamm eyes out.
Can you IMAGINE what Solo would have been if Lord and Miller had been allowed to just do their thing?
