The alternate universe A-list version of The Mist might star Josh Brolin in the Thomas Jane role, Forest Whitaker as Andre Braugher, John C. Reilly as Toby Jones, Gwyneth Paltrow as Blonde Lady, Helen Mirren as Old Woman and Billy Zane as Sacrificial Soldier. But The Mist is in the tradition of classic era B movies and the B level cast, which is entirely made up of character actors, rides that line of heightened stakes of hoke all the way to the finish line. One of the best throwbacks of the 21rst century.
