Woah I am completely blown away by this one. A nearly 3 hour film that I could watch 3 more hours of easily. Andrea Arnold is such an incredible talent. American Honey's view of America is bleak but it shows us why. It shows us how it is. The youth is a commodity to be used and sold abused and taxed. We can try to escape it but there will always be something or someone trying to control us. To survive and eat is to be a slave to something. The end rebirth out of the lake scene is so beautiful because you know she's grown and become her own master. I wish I could have supported this while it was in theaters! Sasha Lane is absolutely perfect in this role and is the soul of the film. Most of the actors are untrained and it makes the mag crew feel so authentic and raw. This whole film is poetic powerful and genuinely moving. I really am at a loss for words on this one. Easily one of my favorite films of the past 10 years.
