Lily M’s review published on Letterboxd:
Just below the surface of the big meta action-scifi reboot is the most heartfelt and nuanced exploration of why trans people live (as ourselves, as not-ourselves), why we choose not to live at all, and why, if we are to live in any capacity, then we must choose to live for each other and no one else, that has ever and possibly will ever exist in the domain of mainstream cinema. It is precious beyond words.
Is it hacky to pre-emptively declare this my FOTY sight unseen on the grounds of "nothing remotely like this will ever happen again"? Maybe, but I don't care! Sometimes a movie gets a lifetime achievement award by default, and ho boy if this isn't one of those times and then some.
