Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home ★★★½

I don’t have strong opinions on the MCU or Spiderman. I like being part of the enthusiastic mass culture of it and I don't bother to watch them critically. I just consume them with my popcorn and escape from my mind for a while. Toby Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland – they’re all great Spideys in different ways. I feel that Marc Webb got a really raw deal and he did a fine job as director. Same goes for Jon Watts but without the raw deal part. They can’t have been given much wriggle room by the committees anyway.

So, to review. MJ and Peter Parker are a nice young couple and Zendaya was great. I gave this an extra half a star just for her brandishing the medieval spiked club then stealing it from the Tower of London.

More pants down Carry On scenes next time please! They were staying in hotels and therefore missed a great opportunity to do the comedy room hopping thing.

I liked Jake G’s beard and it would be good to see more of this beard and Mysterio. But his scheme seemed rather dumb and unconvincing. His posse of henchpeople were cool. I hope they find good, un-evil jobs now.
