Licorice Pizza

Licorice Pizza ★★★★½

35mm

Paul instills a specific feeling of weightlessness here that seems almost impossible to enact. It's a special instinct that wraps like a blanket or warms like fresh coffee. I can't think of the last time I was so fascinated by a central on-screen duo than Hoffman and Haim. Their admiration for each other cements through hellish golf courses and a storefront scorched by a revolving spotlight, constantly magnetized. It wouldn't be a PTA picture without a gallery of memorable side characters, and this has that in spades. A cruising entry in an already dazzling filmography. Another one from the heart.
