Katie🍸’s review published on Letterboxd:
Why is it that I'm so drawn to characters that are down on their luck? Is it because I pity them? Am I someone who can relate to the struggle? More likely it's a little bit of both.
Llewyn Davis is a struggling musician trying to make an honest living as sleeps on couches provided by anyone in the five boroughs that isn't pissed at him. His craft hasn't been the same since the death of his singing partner and it's been a struggle for him to cope since then. Not to mention, it seems that everywhere he goes, he finds himself in trouble with just about everyone. Llewyn Davis can't seem to catch a break no matter what.
In a way, I am Llewyn. No, I'm not a musician, but I just want to catch a break whether it's with my writing, with the people I care about, or just life in general. But unlike Llewyn, I know that I will catch a break. Somehow life has an interesting way of working out for the best. Isn't that what we want in the end?
