I've grown to really like these short, low-budget noir thrillers from the late 1940's/early 1950s. Some of them are OK, but you can find some real diamonds in the lot, and this is one of them.
With a new version of this movie on the horizon, I think it's as good a time as any to watch the previous ones. I found the original on Filmstruck and decided to give it a spin, and was not disappointed.
Hollywood was already an established industry by the time this film came out, and while I'm not sure if this was one of the first movies about the industry or not, it still shows the darkness that was creeping…
