You know who Hollywood so badly needs right now? Jack Lemmon.I have always been a huge fan of his.His ability to convert simple roles into complex studies of human behaviour is a trait very few actors posses. This solid plot about how morality comes into the equation when a crisis occurs is a masterclass in understated subtlety from the late legend. It's got car chases, editing of the highest order and an adrenaline pumped finale!

A really well done thriller/disaster film from a decade filled with good ones. The investigative journalism angle made this really interesting and compelling. Fonda and Lemmon are at their best. Amazing that this was released less than 2 weeks before the Three Mile Island incident.

    Look! Up in the sky!

It's back to college classes (online seemingly for the whole semester though) starting tomorrow, so I wanted to go out with a bang. A brand spanking new Superman movie being released today seemed to be the perfect way to end my summer. Since the film's announcement and especially since the first images and trailer were released, I've been waiting eagerly for this. I cannot pretend to be unbiased with this movie or this character as…

I knew I would like Love and Monsters since it's about love and monsters. The immensely likable Dylan O'Brien lives in a post-apocalyptic world where humans have been forced underground because of giant monsters—the backstory is efficiently delivered in amusing opening narration with helpful drawings—but he's, well, bad at surviving. He's quite at peace with his loserness, though, and it's very endearing. Seven years after being separated from his girlfriend, Jessica Henwick, though, he finally locates her and discovers she's…

About on par with the last one, still worth checking out for the practical effect alone.

    better not dream

I really love the artwork of these posters they capture the dreamscape fantasy feel like the epic battle between realms of nightmares that these later movies can’t deliver us.

Englund is honestly worth the price of admission alone but even he isn’t taking it seriously anymore. Everything is flawed and it bogs the horror aspects of the story down with it.

Second-rate old school live action Disney adventures in Americana, for which it is possible to feel both nostalgia and boredom. Joan Hackett, a couple of moppets, and eventually irascible Peter Ustinov follow a treasure map from Kentucky to Florida, dodging scrapes and knaves (including the KKK...so you want this movie to be fun, or sobering, Disney? Pick a lane). Naturally some colorful mugs pass by (Dick van Patten, Dub Taylor, Brion James, Robert Foxworth), it goes on way too long,…

Though adults may stare wide-eyed at the creaky gender politics and certain depictions that run throughout "Treasure of Matecumbe," younger audiences may find a satisfying adventure film through the American South. Adults may see a plot like Swiss cheese where characters and events bounce off of one another with little connection to what came before in the story; younger audiences may eat up the episodic odyssey of two friends and the hunt for treasure. Adults may shake their heads at…

I am not going to lie, I had absolutely no idea what was going on for about 95% of the film but when it finished, I thought about it for a little bit and did some research on it. It's quite amazing. Even though I have my own theories (that I won't discuss on this), it lets you decide what happened and what it's about. I personally don't think there is a right or wrong…

get the basics out of the way, i'm a slut for a 1.33:1 aspect ratio and the movie looks fantastic. the direction is pretty boring though and drags the movie in a few places.

some of this seems super weird and stiff, but you really have to trust the movie to come together before you understand why. trust me, i was super caught of guard until around the hour mark. that being said, if you don't like a slow burn, this one definitely won't be for you.

oh, and not enough toni collette for my liking. and the ending is a little whack.
