    The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie

The “now that we’re men” song popped into my head at work today and wouldn’t leave me alone for my entire shift….how else was I supposed to react to that-?

  • Edge of Tomorrow

    Edge of Tomorrow

If you know anything about me, you know that I am an absolute slut for time travel movies and tropes, and I’ve been meaning to watch this for years. It’s got everything: a baller time loop plot, Cruise actually playing against his typical hyper-competent action persona, and most important of all….Emily Blunt completely serving 🙏🏻 the ending is slightly anti-climactic and a couple plot elements get jumbled but this is still a really cool time.

  • Jaws

Very neat to finally watch the “original blockbuster”! I expected it to not really be that scary and to have largely outdated effects considering this is going on 50 (!!) years soon, but this was genuinely scary (i say that like i’m not the easiest person in the world to scare but that’s beside the point-). Spielberg really knows how to create timeless tension!!

  • Dirty Dancing

    Dirty Dancing

I went in expecting a silly and goofy dance movie a lá Footloose, and what I got was a very good dance movie with surprisingly hard hitting topics, such as the need for abortion rights and discussion of class differences, along with a great soundtrack and great performances by Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze. Deservedly an 80’s classic!!

  • The Last Airbender

    The Last Airbender

I just finished watching the animated series for the very first time (a life/brain chemistry altering experience if I’ve ever had one) and felt a morbid curiosity to see just how bad this really is….yup!! Absolutely obliterating the source material aside, this is just plain awful even from a filmmaking perspective. I don’t like to toss around 1/2 star ratings as I always like to try and find something good in a film, but this one more than earns it!

  • Ella Enchanted

    Ella Enchanted

I firmly believe that every film should end in a group rendition of “don’t go breaking my heart” complete with two key changes!!

  • Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical

    Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical

I have never seen any single version of Matilda before this, but this was extremely sweet and cute!! I loved the colors and imagination put into the numbers, after Hollywood seemingly left all of their modern movie musical releases back in 2021 it’s good to at least see a new one be released. However, for some reason this also felt obscenely long, like I felt like I was watching this for three hours. Not sure if it’s a pacing issue or if it’s literally just me, but either way this is an uber sweet family film.

  • Penguins of Madagascar

    Penguins of Madagascar

Either I’m very tired or this was way funnier than it had any right to be??? The writing was insanely witty and I’ll always have a lot of nostalgia for the Madagascar franchise.

  • Pacific Rim

    Pacific Rim

shoutout to gigantic things beating the crap out of eachother, gotta be one of my favorite genres! 🙏🏻

  • Captain America: The First Avenger

    Captain America: The First Avenger

i’m never not thinking about how my friends and i got to the theater super late when we saw this and we missed the entire opening so i had no forewarning about steve’s fate at the end and the damage that did to my 13-year old psyche….anyways steve rogers and peggy carter you will ALWAYS be famous <3

  • F9

I decided to jump directly from the first film to this one simply because I didn’t care enough to actually watch the others, and for having absolutely zero investment in this series this was so fun and SO STUPID (I couldn’t stop cackling during the space parts). Like yeah I had many questions (why are they all secret agents now? who are all of these other characters? dom got with someone else besides letty?) but it doesn’t matter because the only thing that matters….is family.

  • Blast from the Past

    Blast from the Past

What a hidden gem!! Brendan Fraser makes such a charming himbo. The entire movie is basically just playing out “this would kill a victorian child” scenarios and it was really fun.
