“You killed my father and mother!!!”

Gruesome and unflinching look at how war never really leaves a person, and how both African Americans and Vietnamese killed each other for the sake of white power. I’ve seen a lot of hard movies about war, but this hit different and left me shaken for quite some time. I haven’t seen violence quite this unsettling before. Going to watch this again soon. So much to digest. Can’t stop thinking about Delroy Lindo, Marvin Gaye, and the amazing shot of the Bloods grooving at that Apocalypse Now-themed nightclub.
    God is above.

“I thought I’d find answers here. I was wrong.”

Might be my favourite movie. Still holds up as one of the boldest and best genre films of recent memory, and an absolute miracle of craftsmanship, thematic depth, and service of character. It goes without saying at this point, but Rian Johnson understands Star Wars at a deep and affectionate level, and this was a film made with not only incredible talent, but true passion for the source material and the…

The scene in the attic, where the camera cuts in close on Sean Astin as the music swells and he explains how One-Eyed Willy was the most famous pirate of his time and how he stole a treasure once and how it was full of rubies and emeralds and diamonds and how he loaded it all up onto his ship and sailed away into the sunset but then the British king found out and sent out his whole armada after…

Best 90 minutes of my life. Imagine having so much energy (or drugs??) that you’re just jogging on the spot for an entire concert.

“Come on over a minute. I just had some ideas that I’d been thinking about for quite a while, about modulation.”

    I’m a university student.
Specifically, I’m in my second year of a Bachelor of Music majoring in Vocal Performance. I’ve been singing and playing piano my whole life. Probably the only reason I’m not pursuing a career in the film industry right now is because I can sing.
This past couple weeks in my music theory class I’ve been…

    Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

"As long as you hold on to so much hate, I don't think you're ever going to become what I know you want to become."

Wow. Hilarious, unsettling, and emotionally complex storytelling here. Some of the best performances of the year, with Frances McDormand at the very top of her game. This isn't a nice movie. It's a movie where the bad guys are more likable than you want them to be and the hero makes choices you don't agree with. Martin McDonagh masterfully walks the line between hilarity and horror throughout, bringing ABBA and Peter Dinklage along for the ride. What a film.
