Scorsese’s After Hours manages to not only be intense and suspenseful throughout, but hilarious all throughout. If I had to describe this in a single statement it would be a toned downed version of Mike Leigh’s Naked. The visual style, clearly influenced by Hitchcock, furthers the quality of an already excellent story. So many interesting shots that were unorthodox at the time, and still are in some ways, just elevates this to another level. If you’ve been considering giving this a watch, definitely view this one at night.
